Martin Bede Massey
Passed away in the early hours of September 5th 2023, following a thankfully short battle with cancer.
Martin will be remembered as the kind brother, who spent most of his adult life in the family home, making sure his mother was looked after so she could also stay in the family home.
To his many nieces and nephews – as children, Martin will be remembered as the “Fun Uncle” who would return from his exotic holidays with wonderful gifts.
As those children got older, he remained the “Fun Uncle”, but then as the one who we could rely on to be able sneak out with for a crafty cocktail from the (in)famous drinks cabinet…
When not keeping everyone else in good cheer, he would be keeping himself in good spirit, through collecting pieces of art, the company of his much-loved dog Jakey, taking time out for his Icon painting retreats, investigating his extensive family tree, or continuing to travel around the world – doubtless leaving an impression wherever he went.
Martin also spent of lot of time working for charities, including for Spina bifida, if you’d like to make a donation in memory of Martin, you can do so here.
