Mr. Lee Sing Yap

3rd October 1943 – 3rd August 2025 (81 Years)

Lee passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, 3rd August, at home in Altrincham, Cheshire after a short battle with cancer.  He leaves behind his wife, Sue Lann, and 5 children, Anita, Belinda, Celeste, Dietrich and Ennevor.   He was a devoted grandfather to 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Joshua, Jonah, Imogen, Isabella, Rosabelle, Lucas, Douglas and Poppy.

Lee was a highly respected member of the Chinese community in Manchester having managed the well-known Chinese supermarket chain, Wing Yip, based in Ancoats, central Manchester for over 50 years.

Lee was an avid player of Mahjong with his friends and loved his Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs, Franco and Hugo.  Over retirement, Lee travelled the world on cruises and trips with his closest of friends.  Like his friends and family, Lee treated all with complete generosity and a warm welcoming persona.

Ceremony

For those who would like to attend, you are very welcome to join the family to remember Lee’s life on Monday, 18th August 2025. The civil ceremony will take place at 11:00am, The Manchester Crematorium Ltd, Barlow Moor Rd, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester M21 7GZ. This will be followed by a committal at Southern Cemetery, 212 Barlow Moor Rd, Manchester M21 7GL where Lee’s body will be laid to rest.

Post Ceremony you are invited for light refreshments at Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club, Barlow Hall Rd, Manchester M21 7JJ.

Visitation

If you are unable to attend the ceremony or would also like to pay your respects prior, the family have added visitation times on Wednesday 13th August 2pm-5pm and Thursday 14th August 6:30pm-8pm.  You can visit Lee at rest at Full Circle Funerals Partners 23 Ashley Road, Altrincham, WA14 2DP.

Donation

Instead of flowers, the family ask for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support whose nurses helped Lee until the end, maintaining his dignity throughout his illness.
