Elizabeth ”Liz” Emily Playford, of Adel, Leeds, born 15.3.1931, died peacefully at home in her sleep on 7.4.2025.
Liz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grace, kindness, wisdom, wit and energy, were a magnet to all who knew her
Born in Glasgow, Liz moved to Leeds with her parents in 1935. She met her late husband Geoffrey Playford in 1952 whilst attending a dance at Adel War Memorial Hall and they married soon afterwards. Liz found great happiness and fulfilment in raising their three children together. During her working years she trained as a secretary, which led to an enjoyable career as a medical secretary at Leeds General Infirmary. Her sharp intellect generated a talent for painting, piano playing and bridge. She and Geoff were keen sailors all their married life and after retirement in 1982, Liz was happiest when sailing at sea with Geoff, as well as when playing bridge with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by Geoffrey (2013). She will be remembered with deepest love and affection by her children Nigel, Vanda and Lionel, her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
