Naturalist, farmer and woodsman; married to Moira , father of Brian and Stephen; grandfather to Alexander, Seamus, Tara, Melissa, Theo and Sam.
Dear Friends
Here are the arrangements for saying Goodbye to Rodney at High Skelding on Friday 18th August.
After a private family cremation at Stonefall Crematorium, Wetherby Road, HG3 1DE we plan a farewell from 12.30pm in the big barn next to High Skelding (precise location here) courtesy of our neighbours Arthur and Barbara, Mark and Lisa Ward. Rodney was never one for a big fuss but he would appreciate everyone coming together informally in a place that meant so much to him. Anyone who knew Rodney is most welcome so please, let any neighbours or other friends know.
Parking by the barn is limited. If you can manage the short walk from the field (here), which will be signposted on the day, then please park there. Click here for an aerial map of the site.
We will have cover in the barnyard but if the weather is bad, feel free to wear wellies and raincoats!
There will be hot and cold drinks and hot snack food from a food van.
There will also be some seating and straw bales but if you wish to bring a folding chair then please do so.
There will be no big speeches but we will have a book of remembrance for you to sign with your memories.
No funeral flowers please, but if you would like to make a donation in Rodney’s memory, we invite you to donate to the Yorkshire branch of the Butterfly Conservation Trust. Please use Gift Aid to increase your gift if you qualify. In order to do so you will need to call the Butterfly Conservation Trust office on 01929 406015 to make a verbal declaration. You can make card payments over the phone or make a bank transfer using Sort Code: 60-22-45, Account No 72032332 reference YORKS.
Please do let me know if you plan to come and, for numbers, how many in your group. It would help us to provide enough food and drink!
