Educational Events

Our workshops and learning events are designed to provide information and enable you to support yourself and people around you.  Whether you’re seeking practical advice, want to expand your knowledge, or simply enjoy engaging with like-minded individuals, there’s something for everyone.

Some of our events are specifically designed for professionals, who support people who want to understand funerals.  The workshops help professionals to feel more confident and create a better experience for the people we are speaking with.

You can attend an open event, arrange an event for your team or let us know if you would like us to deliver something bespoke to your needs.  If you would like to come and speak at one of our webinars, or are interested in collaborating in creating a new educational event then get in touch.

Funeral Care Workshops

Funeral awareness and funeral choices talk or workshop

Custom coffin with flowers on

Since we opened in 2016, we have been educating professionals, members of the public and community groups about funerals, the choices available to them and considering – what is a meaningful funeral?

Many professionals (solicitors, care staff and those working in community groups) find themselves being asked about funerals and funeral choices.  If you work in one of these environments then this workshop will help you to feel more confident to help these conversations, and deliver a better experience for the person you are supporting.

Green Funerals

More and more people want to make funeral choices which are eco-friendly, climate-friendly and responsible.  This workshop considers what we know about the environmental impact of different funeral choices and what this means in practice.

This is a great learning space for people who want to consider their own choices, or are considering how to advise others in their funeral choices (for example, solicitors, celebrants, ministers and health-care professionals).

Care After Death

There are options and choices about how people are physically cared for after death.  We believe that this is a very important part of funeral care and that this is a continuation of how people are cared for (and self-care) in life.

This workshop considers the law, best practice guidance, practical aspects and communication around care after death.  It explores the physical acts and considers the importance of the individuals wishes and how family are friends might be included in decision making and personal care.

Although open to anyone, this workshop is particularly relevant to people working in end-of-life care and professionals allied to funeral care.

Bereavement Workshops

Wellbeing after bereavement talk or workshop

Since 2021, we have been delivering an interactive workshop considering grief, its psychological and physical impact and how we can support wellbeing after bereavement.

This information helps you, if you have experienced loss and will help you support someone you care about.  If you are attending as a professional who spends time with people who are grieving then this will increase your confidence in how to understand the different ways that grief impact on us – and how you can deliver the best possible care.

Establishing a Peer Support Group

We are delighted to be able to offer this training, which was initially created by Leeds Bereavement Forum and Sue Sutton from Carers Leeds.

This short course is designed to support people who would like to set up a local peer bereavement support group.  The session will ensure that you feel confident and able to set up your group and also allows you to connect to an ongoing peer support group leader network.

Become a Dementia Friend

An Alzheimer’s Society Initiative

Full Circle funeral director, Ruth Owen has been a Dementia Friends Champion since 2017.  She delivers Dementia Friends workshops and has supported over 200 people to become Dementia Friends across Yorkshire and beyond.

With a little knowledge we can all contribute to making our communities better spaces for people living with Dementia and those who care for them.  This training is a powerful and engaging way to do just that.

Our Monthly Webinars

We host regular, free and informal webinars about a wide range of subjects relating to death, dying and bereavement.  We are grateful to our guest speakers who give their time generously to allow open and informative conversations to be free to everyone who would like to attend.

Our webinars are held at 11am on the second Thursday of the month and last for approximately one hour. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, engage with the material and speak openly and honestly about funerals, death and dying.  You will find a list of our upcoming webinars on our Eventbrite page – which we would encourage you to follow so you are notified about new webinars.
